Trauma

As a trauma-informed group practice, we believe that trauma is the root of many presenting mental health issues. By understanding deeper past trauma issues, we can work with core problems to implement lasting change rather than just scratching the surface.

Eating Disorders

In our post-covid world, eating disorders are now the #5 most common diagnosis in the world. At True Self Therapy we understand this need from a professional and many times lived experience to help our clients tackle diagnoses like anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID, and orthorexia

Anxiety

Anxiety is a spectrum, from worrying, to intrusive thoughts, to extreme OCD and panic attacks. We work with our clients on coping skills with anxiety, understanding roots to anxious beliefs and behaviors from a trauma-focused perspective, and supporting them in challenging these thoughts.

PTSD

PTSD is a form of extreme anxiety as a result of trauma, and is more common than we think. It has severe impacts on daily living, relationships, and coping skills. At true self we address PTSD from a trauma-informed lens while also incorporating research backed methods like EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS and parts work)

Teen Therapy

True Self Therapy works with teens/minors from ages 12-17 and then will transition into adult based therapy at 18. Our practice is focused on making sure that teens feel their own sense of autonomy and motivation for counseling while also making sure that the family works as a collective unit for betterment.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization) is a specialized form of trauma therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to facilitate trauma processing and memory reframing.

Other Modalities

True Self Therapy believes in using a combination of modalities that are unique to each client rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. This includes theoretical orientations of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfullness and more.

Body Image

Body image issues often coincide with eating disorders, but can also be the result of low self esteem, transitional life body changes, or just living in a diet-culture world with unrealistic expectations and social media. We help clients seek a more body neutral approach while also being HAES informed.

Relational Issues and Family Therapy

Relational struggles are an important part of therapy. When working through a systemic lens, as all Marriage and Family Therapists do, it is essential to take each client’s relationships into account. This includes individual work, family therapy, and couples therapy.

Adult Therapy

We work with adults of all ages in individual therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy. The gift of being an adult and engaging in counseling is that you are often ready to do the hard work!

IFS

Internal Family systems, or IFS, focuses on parts work and working with our own parts rather than against them.

It is possible to recover from anxiety self-esteem issues, body image insecurities, and eating disorders with the right guidance and support. Our team of therapists are committed to making this journey easier for you and your loved ones while ensuring full recovery and complete freedom.
